A while back some friends of ours booked some extra rooms at this mom and pop guest house (Gasthaus) in Kreuzberg, near the small town of Rhon (there is an umlaut over the 'o' but I can't figure out how to do it on my keyboard!). When they found out there were extra rooms available, they asked us to come along. There is a monastery there that has been there since the 9th century and its still active and working to this day. There are monks who live and work there and the "best beer in the world" is brewed there, served each day (even on Sunday) on tap. We lept at the chance because we have been meaning to do this for a while. We took the kids and headed up for a weekend of fun. Needless to say, it was a wonderful time. KC got to taste the beer, the kids had fun playing in the woods right next to the church and visit with the HUGE St. Bernhards they raise there and I got to view an amazing house of God. Most of what you see in the pictures was added in the 1700s. The monks order is that of the Franciscans. It was breathtaking!
