....and it continues......

For a quick update, the family went to Italy with close family friends. On the heels of that trip, we are trying to pack our house in anticipation for our move back across the pond. KC recieved orders to go to Ft. Drum, located north in upstate New York. That means, in the coming weeks, we shall be busy (as we are now) getting the last of everything we need done. In short, I need to get my van shipped so we will be down one car, organize the household into three categories (as there are three different pick up dates for things that are ours going by boat, things that are going by plane and things like appliances and supplied furniture that still belongs to the army to pick up). I might be able to update the blog more when we are moved out of our house and into the hotel room waiting a fortnight for our plane ride. But if you don't see much on the site, just take it that I am otherwise engaged!
The kids are doing well. They are excited to get OUT of Germany. Where we are going we plan to buy a home. With a big yard and a place where they can ride their bikes without the constant threat of having to look out for cars or people shouting at them in German.
We have decided to homeschool this coming year as we leave AFTER school begins and don't even know what town we will be living in.
We celebrated Ben's 5th birthday one whole month early because his actual birthday, August 18th, will be right in the middle of our move. Thank God he doesn't really keep track of time and loved it! Pictures of Italy and of Mr. Benjamin's birthday gala will be posted all in due course! :)
However, here are some more shots of Lourdes....as promised!

The soldiers in Lourdes were represented by 37 different countries. And out of ALL of the guys (and ladies) I asked to pose for snapshots, only ONE refused to be photographed.

Two ladies from the British Air Force

I know these guys were Irish

These two gentlemen, Ryan (left) and Patrick (right) were of the American Army
Its tradition that all the soldiers swap medals, honors, ribbons etc, with all the other represented military. Ryan got so many offers for his calvary hat, but never fear, he didn't give it up!

My friend Latisha, who is the sweetest person I know! She is all decked out in uniform!

Denny was invited to stand in this shot, though not active duty any more and not in uniform, the Navy man stood proudly!
Our guys (with priest Fr. Romeo, inside right) with the Slovanians we shared 4th floor with!
For english mass at the grotto, the british royal band played all our hymns.....
with a smashing performance by the scottish bagpipes during communion!

And of course, the famed Swiss Guard. I snapped this shot after a concert by the German Army band in St. Bernadette Cathedral.
