Mardi Gras Kids!!!

I have been greatly inspired by some amazing blogs out there. Homeschooling families who do craft projects with their kids on a daily basis. I am not really this active, but since one of my friends in Germany (yes I mean you Ben's Sunday school teacher) told me kids learn through their hands, I  have grabbed onto this idea and ran with it.
Ash Wednesday started off this past week and so the kids and I did a whole lesson on Mardi Gras....Carnival(italians), Fasching (germans)....basically the pre-lenten season. They heard my little speech on the history of the celebration, Fat Tuesday all that jazz, but were really having a great time when I busted out the masks to make for our own Mardi Gras!!!

What fun, and I agree, children do learn through their hands. I home educate our four kids, ages 7-10, and they love hands on stuff. When I read a book about eggs, I gave them each an egg and a bowl, and they had a blast, remembered more, and after "playing with egg", we cooked and ate them.
