Well, Abby had her well baby checkup today. First, her stats:
Weight: 15lbs7oz
Height: 69 1/2 centimeters
Head Circumference: 42 1/2 centimeters
I thought it would be easy. She would be ok because there were no shots to get until 12 months. But no such luck. Because all the doctors at the health clinic on this Post are out of town, on leave or on maternity, they had to borrow doctors from other Army Posts, and this new doctor, who was very nice, was concerned about her weight.
She seems to be very under weight. So just to make sure she is ok, they had to take blood to check iron and thyroid. They also want to take some urine samples to check kidney function. I am sure its nothing to worry about or to dwell on, just an over anxious doctor. But who am I to complain about a doctor doing a thorough job? So they stuck her a few times and it was not pleasant. But we got through it and she fell asleep quickly afterwords. So just keep her in your prayers and thoughts for a while.
On a higher note her gross motor skills are highly developed and she has a very happy dispostion. Other than at the lab, she smiled, giggled and held still while the doc looked in her ears and as she was weighed and measured. They all love her at that place! I will keep you posted!

Recently due to some things going on at our church back in Arkansas, we have had a lady who child is just now 12lbs 3oz at 6months. We have been doing alot of reading about weight issue of infants.
15lbs for Abby is low, but she seems to be functioning on a full level on everything else, try not to worry much. I think you would know if something was wrong, but bless your doctor for checking it out! Hey, wasn't Ben low in Iron at one point?
