Busy Days

The last few days have been filled with new stuff! Yesterday, after mass, we all decided to go fishing on base at Ft. Rucker. Nothing was biting, but we had a good time anyway. Thomas at last got to use his fishing pole he got for his birthday! After about five minutes lost interest in fishing all together when daddy got out his tackle box! But it was fun.

This morning was awesome for both KC and myself. He had to do what they call "dunker" training today. That is where he gets to be put underwater and tries to find his way out of a submerged helicopter. Tomorrow he gets to do it with no air. He is scuba diving certified, so he knows the feeling of having to breath through a regulator and so forth.

I spent the morning meeting a bunch of new mommies at the "mommy and me" play group they have on base for mothers (or fathers for that matter) with children 0-12 months old. The cool thing about this group is they actually pay for Thomas to be looked after while I am there.

It was wonderful, a land of slobber and spit up. So many diaper bags and urp-clothes everywhere you turned. Most of the children can crawl but they can't walk yet. Then there are kids like Ben who just sit back and laugh and grab at toys on mommy's lap. There were a lot of other ladies there and it felt to good to get out and socialize. Thomas liked his time at the sitter's house as well. Ben was so tuckered out afterword he slept all afternoon.

I am happy to announce that today was Ben's first day to try baby rice cereal. Not only did he love the bowl he had but ate another serving! The first bite was a little strange to him of course, and he made the funniest face imaginable, but after that he was set. The cloth diapers are coming along. One thing I have learned is that when using cloth diapers you have to use a bunch of baby powder. But its good otherwise! I probably won't need to buy regular ones until spring!
